Ceramic Industry

Constantly rising energy costs and frequently changing products in the ceramic industry require versatile rack systems. Optimal use of available firing space is a must. Steuler's variable kiln car systems guarantee the required flexibility and stability. As a result, Steuler kiln car systems are also well suited for deployment in automatic tunnel kilns, muffle and shuttle kilns as well.

Steuler has developed a special connecting system for severe mechanical loads, particularly for the "long hauls" in tunnel kilns. Stable kiln assemblies are installed without mortar, thus ensuring trouble-free operation. Thermal stresses in the heat-up and cool-down phases are neutralised by means of special anchor stud connections.

Powder Metallurgy

Steuler's customers benefit from decades of experience and from the continuous advances made in our research and development divisions. The effective service life of plants has been extended and regular operating costs significantly reduced. All thermal, mechanical and chemical requirements, as well as configurations based on the customer's own specifications, are analysed as an interrelated unit and then translated into a practical, high-quality system. The basic materials used in these systems encompass a wide variety of different raw material components made of cordierite, mullite, andalusite and corundum.
For example, by using special kiln furniture, post-processing cost for powder-metallurgical processed parts can also be minimised because the evenness of such parts after sintering depends directly on the evenness of the kiln furniture. Only ceramic kiln furniture can ensure satisfactory firing results. Because Steuler manufactures kiln furniture using the dry press method only, tolerances are very small.

Stable assemblies permit the removal of complete units by forklift, thereby allowing rapid charging of large-scale batch kilns.

Unpolished and polished sinter rings were used as supports for ring-shaped powder metal parts, as for example synchronous rings or gear wheels.

Knob-plates were used for the adjustment of small round bodies with interior hole. These products were especially developed for an automatic loading.
