How Margarete Arcilesi masters all challenges in her professional life with joy

My path with Steuler

The Steuler Group opens up new perspectives for individual development and nothing proves this better than the real stories of the people at our sites.

One of them is that of Margarete Arcilesi, who has been with us for an impressive four decades with her passion and positive attitude, sending a strong signal for female managers in the industry.

We had the pleasure of talking to her about her development with us:

Margarete Arcilesi | Technical Product Designer

Dear Margarete Arcilesi, before we start: We are delighted that you are sharing your story!

Thank you very much. I thought about it for a long time, because I personally don't like to be the center of attention, but what could be more authentic than 41 years in the company.

You're absolutely right. How did your career at Steuler begin?

I started my training as a draughtswoman in acid construction in 1983 and was subsequently taken on.

How have you already progressed in your development?

Today I work in the position of deputy head of department. I really enjoy it because I can work independently, creatively and responsibly. With the specialist knowledge I have acquired over the years, I am now the one who can share my knowledge and pass it on to the next generation.

What do you particularly appreciate about your job?

I enjoy the varied challenges in my work. I contribute to the global planning of complex projects. This requires a solution-oriented approach, flexibility and combines creativity with the necessary functionality. And all this with a local employer that allows me to spend time with my family and be part of a very close-knit team.

What was one of the moments when you felt you had really arrived?

After so many years at Steuler, I could probably fill a whole book with all the wonderful stories. There were a few moments that showed me how strong the community in the company is.

It gave me a very good feeling that I could easily return to work after my parental leave and increase my weekly hours at a pace that suited me. But the most moving moment was certainly 2015, when I was finally able to return to work after 1.5 years of serious illness and continue doing the job I enjoy. The people here at Steuler made that possible.

Would you say that cohesion like this is what defines the Steuler community?

Among other things, and for me definitely - people who are there for each other and stand by each other even in challenging situations. Each of us helps to shape the company with our work and it feels good to be part of this big picture.

As I said, having fun at work has always been my motto and I am proud that I have been able to maintain and exemplify this through all the ups and downs of the past few years. I will be retiring in a few years' time, so I very much hope that, in addition to the purely technical aspects, I will also be able to pass on my attitude: enthusiasm and a sense of responsibility.

That is an inspiring attitude. One last question: what about your path did you not expect when you started your training?

That I would spend almost my entire professional life at Steuler!

We are very pleased to hear this and thank you for the interview and your openness. Thank you for being part of Steuler!

This personal story is one of many special people who have made Steuler what it is today.
